Helena Bonham Carter is an Academy Award nominated English Actress. She is best known for her role in A Room With A View.

Helena Bonham Carter was born in Golders Green, London on May 26, 1966. She attended the South Hampstead High School and later attended the Westminster School near the Palace of Westminster. She is the great-granddaughter of Herbert Henry Asquith, a former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

In 1979, she entered and won a national writing contest and used the contest winnings to pay for her entry into Spotlight, an actor's directory. In 1983 she had a small role in the made for television film A Pattern of Roses. Her first starring role came in the 1986 release of Lady Jane. The film was actually shot in 1984 and when finally released in 1986 there were mixed reviews.

In 1985, her breakout role came with her part in A Room With A View. The film was actually released before Lady Jane though filmed after that movie. However, these early films lead to a bit of typecasting for Carter, and it took several years for her to overcome this.

More recent film roles include Fight Club, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride, Big Fish and Wallace & Gromit: The curse of the Were-Rabbit. Her next film with be Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which began filming in 2006. In 2007 she will appeared in a film version of Sweeney Todd.

Helena Bonham Carter is in a relationship with director Tim Burton. The two have a son.
